Peter Schleicher

Born in Germany, Peter immigrated to Canada in 1967. A specialist in
tourism, Peter worked in travel agencies in Germany and Canada before
joining Swissair in 1970, where he was active in sales, marketing and
PR activities. He developed special promotional campaigns and events
involving Olympic and Special Olympic athletes. He organized special
fund raising events to support athletes, including Versace fashion
shows in Montreal and at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne/Switzerland.
Peter was a non-competitive amateur athlete in track and field
(marathons). He has organized several sporting events involving high
performance national athletes and corporations. A member of the
Canadian Olympic Committee, Peter is a graduate of both the
Canadian and International Olympic Academies. He has created the
'IOC Children of the World' program, and initiated partnerships
between the Olympic Museum and Versace, as well as the IOC and
Swissair. He founded Athletes International in order to fulfill his
passion to support athletes, generate corporate involvement and to
promote Olympic ideals. It is Peter's goal to expand the services of
Athletes International around the world to support amateur athletes.
Peter maintains a close relationship with many Olympians worldwide. |

Michael is a former member of the National Fencing Team and is currently the athletes representative for the Canadian Fencing Association. Michael contributes significantly in Athletes International activities through its overall promotion, events, contracts and also managing the structure and development of the company. |

Marcelle joined the team at Athletes International with enthusiasm in January 2004. Her university and college studies along with her diverse professional experience have allowed her to evolve in communications, public relations and media, promotion, journalism and event organization.
Her goal: To combine the dream of her youth and her ideal career by channelling her interests, energy, dynamism, aptitudes, competences and distinct professionalism for the benefit of the amateur sport community, which has always been a source of motivation and stimulation for her.
Marcelle made her mark in swimming as an athlete at the junior national level for the Cowansville club and for the team of the Green and Gold at the University of Sherbrooke. She has also taken part in other competitive sports, such as gymnastics and volleyball. Currently, she practices various sports outdoors, such as skiing, for pleasure. She has volunteered at the Quebec Games and for the CAMO Diving Club.

Christopher Kalec

Christopher has been an active member of the Canadian National Diving Team since 1998. Christopher competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games where he placed 17th in the 10-meter platform event. Member of the 1995 and 2003 Pan-Am Games and the 1998, 2001 and 2003 World Aquatic Championships. Currently, he is training for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
Christopher is an active advocate of the importance of athlete support and assistance. He envisions a nation where Canadian sport and athletes’ needs are understood and support is provided through public, private and government programs. Christopher has been the Canadian Diving Athlete Representative since 1999 and attends many sport conferences including the Athletes CAN meetings.
Christopher is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (marketing/entrepreneurship) at McGill University in Montreal and plans to graduate in April 2005. |

Steven Kavanagh

Steven Kavanagh is a former nine-year member of the Canadian National
Figure Skating team and former professional athlete. He moved to Montreal from Toronto in 1995 where he continued to compete internationally and coach ice dancing until
continuing his professional skating career in the United Kingdom in 1997.
Upon returning to Canada, he studied Public Relations at
Concordia University in Montreal and was a committee member of the annual 'Défi Corporatif Canderel', a corporate fundraising campaign for two Montreal university cancer research centers. Steven embraced the role of General Manager of AI from 2002 to 2004.
Steven has been involved with the development of Athletes International since
its inception and has attended and assisted in the organization of
many events and initiatives.
Currently, Steven is working in a business office in Toronto yet remains active in Athletes International as a consultant and coordinator for all website related matters. |

François Laurin

François obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (Fitness) from McGill University in 1985. This will be his 19th season as the Head Coach of McGill’s Swim Team. He is a level III certified coaching degree and pursuing the completion of its 4th level. François has coached medallists at the Commonwealth, Pan Pacific’s and World Student Games. Since the 1998 season, he has been the commissioner of the FQSE Swimming league. Also, he was named Coach of the Year for both men’s (1999-2001-’02-‘03) and women’s team (1999-2000-‘01) in the FQSE conference. François is committed to the promotion of Athletes International’s travel services among his fellow coaches and athletes of all sports.

George Zouvelas
Representative in Greece

George was a member of the Greek National Junior Athletic Team. He
was the junior Greek champion in javelin. He competed extensively
nationally and internationally. He was coaching in his sport and
still keeps close connections to various Greek Sports organizations.
George is a member of the Anti Doping Center in Athens working for
the Athens 2004 Olympics. He is a graduate of the International
Olympic Academy and the Gym Academy of Greece. George represents
and co-ordinates the interests of Athletes International in Greece. |
